When it comes to online dating etiquette there are a few things you need to keep in mind so that all parties concerned can have a respectful interaction. When it comes time to communicate such using e-mails, you will often find that people can be fickle.

Basically out of every e-mail you send expect about a twenty percent response rate. If you make a commitment to communicate with someone at a given time then make sure you honor that commitment.

1/ It is ok to e-mail with multiple contacts, however when in direct communication with somebody via instant messenger then it is more respectful to communicate with just them rather than communicating with multiple people at the same time.

2/ It is ok not to respond back to e-mails if you do not want to however if you do make a commitment, follow through and if it is not to your liking then politely make the point of saying that you no longer wish to communicate.

3/ In your communications do not be insulting, we are human beings after all and we all have feelings, there is no reason to be rude and obnoxious. Treat each other as if you were communicating face to face.

4/ When dating online there is nothing wrong with meeting several people casually to find your perfect mate, with that said when you do meet with someone you like do not leave your profile up as if you are still looking.

This is not fair to the other person and furthermore if they see that your profile is still live then they may think that you’re not that interested or worse still think that you are scamming them.

When you take your profile off line you do not have to delete it, you can save it and post it again later if things do not work out.

5/ Do not post pictures on your profile that are old, post your most recent photo. It is not fair to deceive others just to get what you want. One way to look at it is this, treat others how you want to be treated.
